I have added Texas newspapers to my daily reading since Gov Rick Perry jumped into the race.
Texas, his state, has had the most job growth and therefor he should ‘take a bow’ since it was under his watch. This is big!
But jobs – while very important - are not the only thing voters may or will look at. See below from the Dallas Morning News. The Texas educational system has suffered in the past several years with huge budget cuts. Adults/parents share some of the responsibility for the quality of education for students but it could be a point of vulnerability for Gov Perry as he races for the White House since, like jobs, it was under his watch. The substance of the article below might not be a big a factor in the race since education has taken a back seat in this country for the last 20 or so years but his record on this will get scrutinized.
