Journalism and Judgment – filling in the blanks for Tucker Carlson to Politico (UPDATED 10:39am)

Tucker sent me the email below in reference to my earlier posting.  I am posting it for him as that seems right and fair that he gets to respond.  While the editorial note doesn’t justify it for me – it may for you.

I am curious, however, when it went up in relation to the original posting (day and time), what prompted it and secondly, what the “update” was 24 hours later.  I have asked him and I hope he replies.

Greta,

You wrote this on your blog this morning:

…his now condemnation came after my posting calling him out. He now acts like it was always there. It was not. I posted my blog entry at 10:04am yesterday and his website’s condemnation came in an update at 10:25am. And even if by some chance I am wrong and it came before, the condemnation is not cover for reprinting the vile statements against women.

This is factually wrong, as I told you several times yesterday. We posted our editor’s note at 10:15 on Saturday morning, a full 24 hours BEFORE your blog post, and I can prove it. You posted your attack on me on Sunday. Please correct this right away.

Thanks,

Tucker

Tucker neglected to include in his remarks to Politico this am – and which I am now completing for him – is that it is a convicted rapist (not Peyton Manning!) who is spewing the most vile violence against women.    Maybe Tucker wants to troll the prison to see what pretty things they have to say about women?  And he can call that news? I am sure he can find some really, really, really famous rapist in prison to get a quote or two about women.

Second  his now condemnation came after my posting calling him out.  He now acts like it was always there.  It was not.  I posted my blog entry at 10:04am yesterday and his website’s condemnation came in an update at 10:25am.  And even if by some chance I am wrong and it came before, the condemnation is not cover for reprinting the vile statements against women.

PS – I am not seeking to start some war with Tucker – but merely answering what he says.

“…Carlson responded to Van Susteren, telling POLITICO on Monday, “One of the most famous athletes in the world attacks one of the of most famous political figures in the world. That struck us as news. We din’t endorse what Tyson said, we in fact condemned it. I can’t imagine how any fair reader of our story could conclude that we were anything but disgusted by what Tyson said.”
