I don’t understand this…..it seems to me that it would not be that complicated to answer these 3 questions: 1/ who authorized Fast and Furious (the top person) and 2/ who KNEW about Fast and Furious (the top person) and 3/ did anyone at the White House know about it? (and if yes, who? how high up?) It is this ‘foot dragging” by the Justice Department (and the AG) that is making a spectacle out of this and a political weapon.
We really don’t need more spats between R’s and D’s, nor more political weapons for campaign ads – we need answers. This is dragging way way way too long.
And why is it so important to get answers? Because everyone — including the Attorney General – now agrees that Fast and Furious was a stupid idea — and tragic (a Border Agent was killed.) Whoever authorized it and was involved in it lacks judgment with extreme costs (murdered Agent) and that person should not now be a position to exercise bad judgment again. We need to find that person and remove that person – or at least change his or her job.
I am not looking for a head on pike — I am looking to be prudent and remove someone with demonstrated bad judgment. (As an aside, whoever is the architect of Fast and Furious no doubt now feels horrible — but that person needs to be removed and this should not be about covering up for mistakes. We need to be bold and do the right thing.)
One other thing, don’t we owe this to Agent Terry’s family? Don’t they deserve answers?
