CONTROVERSY: DEFUND or FUND PUBLIC BROADCASTING?

Below is not a new controversy but rather one that is once again in full force.  Some are big fans of public broadcasting and some say it is a ‘relic from a bygone era.’  Read and tell me what you think:

GOP lawmakers call for defunding of public broadcasting

Senator Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) are calling for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to be defunded in next year’s federal budget.

 

In letters sent Thursday to the chairmen of the Senate and House Appropriations committees, DeMint and Lamborn decried the CPB’s request for an “enormous” $445 million in funding for the next fiscal year.

 

“While so many Americans are making sacrifices around the country to make ends meet, CPB appears unwilling to do the same,” they wrote.
