Background on tonight’s fundraisers:
This evening President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will attend two fundraising events in New York City. First, they will attend a fundraising reception with 50 attendees at the home of Sarah Jessica Parker. Trombone Shorty will provide musical entertainment. Tickets for this event cost $40,000 per person. Then, they will attend a fundraising dinner with
250 people at the Plaza Hotel. Mariah Carey will perform at the dinner. Tickets for this event cost $10,000 per person. Proceeds from both events will go to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and several state Democratic parties.
“A New York Night” contest winner:
Robin Hunt is the winner of “A New York Night,” the online fundraising contest and will meet the President and First Lady
tonight at the fundraiser at Sarah Jessica Parker’s home. Robin is originally from Winston-Salem, NC and currently lives in Baltimore, MD where she works as a project administrator at Johns Hopkins Hospital. As a health care worker, she supports education and preventive health initiatives, such as those included in the Affordable Care Act, to improve the quality of life for all Americans regardless of income.
Robin brought her mother Elvita as her guest. Elvita lives in Winston-Salem and is retired from her role as an executive assistant at Winston-Salem State University.
The Plaza:
At the Plaza, the President will be introduced by the First Lady. Newark Mayor Cory Booker and Musician, Alicia Keys will also deliver remarks at this event.
