Subject: Travel Pool #8
Pool was escorted into the private residence of Mikal Watts, a trial lawyer, at 2:19, local time.
Obama was speaking in a private indoor basketball court that was the size of a high school gymnasium. Soaring ceilings. Electronic scoreboard. The whole bit.
Supporters–including Eva Longoria– sat at 10 round tables dressed in red while and blue table clothes.
POTUS briefly acknowledged Longoria, dressed in a beige sleeveless, form fitting frock. US Trade Rep Ron Kirk is also here.
Same stump speech you’ve heard lately, but shorter because POTUS said he wanted to spend time talking to supporters there.
“Although Texas is not quite a battleground, the issues we face are just as relevant here,” POTUS said. “We have two stark choices, two fundamentally different visions. My opponent and his allies in Congress and his allies here in the Lone Star state believe that the way you grow the economy is from the top down and with more tax cuts that benefit many in this room, including myself.”
He repeated that the election was going to be close, “Not because the other side has particularly new or interesting ideas.”
POTUS continued on to say he’s “optimistic” about his prospects in the election, though.
Pool now holding in a large pool house (big enough to be its own home), with spanish tiles and a stone patio near a hot tub.
