I simply do not understand this. See below. President Obama is the leader. It is the job of the leader to lead. I know it is extremely difficult and I know his political opponents are even pushing against him — but President Obama isn’t even trying to lead. He should at least try. He has given up. Is that really leadership? It is not enough to say that his political opponents are fighting him — he needs to show us he is at least trying.
We have a huge crisis pending with sequestration (see below where you see even the President agrees!) As the leader, President Obama is not ‘pounding the pavement’ and ‘working the phones’ to address the sequestration. Instead he released the report below (required by law but about 5 days late) saying the budget cuts will be ‘deeply destructive to national security…etc.’ Would you not think that, in light of this, and in light of the fact that it is the job of the President to lead, that he would be doing everything he could right now to get this resolved?
If I were President, I would be on the phone telling the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader to get to the White House immediately. The 3 owe it to the American people to solve this and the President, as President, owes it to the American people to lead to get it done.
I would ‘burn the midnight oil” with the Speaker and the Leader — in fact I would insist they come back the next day and the next day and the next day until this is resolved. The President isn’t trying to resolve this — I think he prefer to wait until the lame duck time after the election. Is that really leadership?
Why does the White House WARN (see headline below) but just sit and do nothing about it? Not even try?
