New merchandise for sale by the Obama campaign features a redesigned American flag. The campaign is selling several prints that show an altered image of the stars and stripes. The stars are replaced with the Obama campaign logo and the red stripes look like broad brush strokes.
So why did the Obama campaign feel the need to redesign the American flag? The campaign Tweeted this explanation:

But critics are calling the art work creepy and un-American. Social networking sites are being flooded with negative responses calling the changes in the flag offensive and shameful.
