Matt Romney calls dad’s loss good news for family
By Diane Bell, San Diego Union-Tribune
After months of grueling campaigning, you might expect Mitt Romney’s family to be devastated by his defeat.
“For our family this was good news,” said one of his five sons, Matt, 41, who lives in San Diego. “We’re all OK,” Matt emphasized, but added that it was a loss for America.
The second oldest son of Mitt and Ann Romney, who was with his parents in Boston on election night, said his father ran for office not because he wanted to: “He did this to serve his country.”
After the drawn-out, brutal campaign, Romney is ready to step out of the political limelight.
“We definitely will never see him run for office again,” Matt said.
