The Victoria’s Secret Fashion show hasn’t even aired on TV yet, but it’s already generating heat! During the taping of the annual fashion show, one model wore a Native American-inspired headdress. The outfit was meant to represent Thanksgiving, but Victoria’s Secret is coming under fire from some Native American groups who say the ensemble was disrespectful. The group Native Appropriations wrote on its blog: “This isn’t fun…this isn’t a fantasy character. This is about our cultures, our bodies, and our lives.”
Victoria’s Secret is now apologizing on Facebook, saying: “We are sorry that the Native American headdress replica used in our recent fashion show has upset individuals. We sincerely apologize as we absolutely had no intention to offend anyone. Out of respect, we will not be including the outfit in any broadcast, marketing materials nor in any other way.”
So do you think Victoria’s Secret should have pulled the outfit from its show or not? Vote in the poll and post your thoughts below!
