Avoid tipping them off? Is that the Gen Petraeus reason? (Do you think the guilty terrorists will think we suspect the Girl Scouts if we refrain from saying Al Qaeda or Ansar al Sharirah?)

See below — the reason why General Petraeus did not want to name the terrorist group is because he did not want to tip them off.  So here is an idea I write sarcastically, don’t name the obvious terrorist group and instead spread a silly story about a video and make sure the President repeats it several times on entertainment TV like Letterman and The View.  Maybe the terrorists will think we are so stupid that they will surrender?

(By the way, we have not caught the terrorist group who murdered these Americans so not naming them sure didn’t do much.  And by the way, and see below the red text, tracked them to where?  The Obama Administration didn’t even try to talk to the Tunisian caught on camera at the Consulate during the attack and in custody in Tunisa!  They couldn’t even track the guy they identified on the scene!)

WASHINGTON — David H. Petraeus, the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, told lawmakers on Friday that classified intelligence reports revealed that the deadly assault on the American diplomatic mission in Libya was a terrorist attack, but that the administration refrained from saying it suspected that the perpetrators of the attack were Al Qaeda affiliates and sympathizers to avoid tipping off the groups.

Mr. Petraeus, who resigned last week after admitting to an extramarital affair, said the names of groups suspected in the attack — including Al Qaeda’s franchise in North Africa and a local Libyan group, Ansar al-Shariah — were removed from the public explanation of the attack immediately after the assault to avoiding alerting the militants that American intelligence and law enforcement agencies were tracking them, lawmakers said.
