Ambassador Rice needs to “refresh her memory” – the bombings of US Embassies in East Africa in 1998

Ambassador Susan Rice may have more baggage …going back to when our two US Embassies in East Africa were bombed and many lost lives.  She told Senator Collins that she needs to refresh her memory as to whether she was involved in denying additional security before the Embassies were bombed.  She said she was not DIRECTLY involved.

How could you forget such an important and catastrophic event and whether you were part of the chain who denied additional security when the Ambassadors had begged for it and then many died in two huge bombings?  I suppose it is possible not to recall….

See below from USA Today:

“….Collins added another wrinkle into the critique of Rice.

“What troubles me so much is the Benghazi attack in many ways echoes the attacks on those embassies in 1998, when Susan Rice was head of the African region for our State Department.,” Collins said. “In both cases the ambassadors begged for additional security.”

Collins said that Rice told her “she would have to refresh her memory” of the 1998 events but that she was not directly involved in rebuffing the request for additional embassy security in 1998.”
