Of course things are not perfect here in the USA for women and we should continuously strive to make it better – but when you travel as much as I do, you have a profound appreciation for how women are treated in the USA (and let me repeat, it can be better….many women struggle from discrimination here in the USA.)
In the 2012 election season, the Democrats’ mantra was that there is a WAR ON WOMEN by the Republican Party. I thought that description way overblown – even petty – because I have seen the REAL war on women (see the article below.)
There are countries waging such vicious wars on women – and girls – that it is hard to even discuss it. Perhaps it is so vicious that everyone wants to look the other way?
I wish that even half the energy the Democrats put into their 2012 election sloganeering about the War on Women would be diverted to fighting the REAL War on Women like the one in the article below. The stories about what happens to women and girls around the world takes your breath away….

Afghan girl’s beheading: Two arrested in Kunduz province
Afghan police have arrested two men accused of beheading a teenage girl with a knife in northern Kunduz province, officials said on Wednesday.
Prior to the attack, the girl’s father had rejected a marriage proposal for his daughter.
“Our investigation shows those who killed her were people who wanted to marry her,” police told the BBC.
Earlier this month, four policemen were jailed for 16 years for raping a young woman in the same province.
In the latest incident, the girl, who was about 14 years old, was carrying drinking water from a nearby well to her house in Imam Sahib district when she was attacked on Monday.
“People were harassing the family and asking for her hand. When she refused, they did this to her,”
