SILLY STUFF! A JUDGE CAN’T ORDER MARYLAND GOVERNOR O’MALLEY TO APPOINT SOMEONE!

Perhaps the Governor wants to appoint someone without a criminal record for drugs and a gun?

But in any event, the decision to appoint is the Governor’s and not a judges decision or a nominating committee.

Judge asked to order O’Malley to appoint Hall to Alston’s seat

The Associated Press

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — An attorney has asked a Prince George’s County judge to order Gov. Martin O’Malley to appoint Greg Hall to a vacant seat in the House of Delegates.

Hall’s attorney Walter Green said in court Tuesday that the governor was required to appoint Hall within 15 days after the county’s Democratic Central Committee nominated him to fill the seat Nov. 7.

O’Malley has asked the panel to withdraw Hall’s name. Some have opposed the nomination because of drug and gun charges Hall faced about 20 years ago.

Matt Fader, an attorney representing O’Malley, is scheduled to respond in court Tuesday afternoon. He declined to comment outside of court.

Former Delegate Tiffany Alston is contending she should be reinstated because her misconduct conviction has been changed to probation before judgment.
