Urgent: Boehner: “The American people have to be scratching their heads, when is the president going to get serious.”

On-cam from the House floor from House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) about the fiscal cliff. Fed back live.

Boehner:

The American people have to be scratching their heads, when is the president going to get serious.

Boehner:

We have to cut spending. The plan we’ve offered is consistent with the president.

* Boehner describes Sunday’s meeting as a “nice meeting. Cordial.”

Boehner:

We’re still waiting for the White House to offer spending cuts

Boehner:

Where are the president’s specifics? We know the president wants more stimulus and an unlimited debt ceiling. That’s not fixing our problem. It’s making it worse. We’d see red ink as far as the eye can see.

Boehner:

I’m hopeful we can reach an agreement. This is serious.
