If you work in the news, you can overdose on bad news which is why I love good news so much. I almost crave good news!
Today was a really lucky day for me. I received a note from Reverend Franklin Graham that a woman donated – in my name – 100 shares of Exxon stock to the Samaritan’s Purse’s fund to help those who got hit so hard by Hurricane Sandy. I am not including her name here since I don’t want to invade her privacy (I did send a handwritten note) — but imagine how it made me feel to think she did that in my name. It also reminded me how great it is to have this job to put a spotlight on the goodness of so many.
And while I am on the topic of giving, and again sparing the name of the person, one of my colleagues donated money today in my honor to Governor Chris Christie’s wife’s fund to help those hurt so terribly by Hurricane Sandy. My colleague called me to tell me it was her Christmas gift to me and I told her that it was the best gift she could give me. I was enormously grateful…and flattered that she knows me so well that she knows that I would love that!
By the way, I know many of you are generous and give money and may sometimes wonder whether it is money well spent. I can assure you that I have seen what Samaritan’s Purse does with the many contributions you give….and they do great things. If you want to see what they do,
