What a great day! (Yet I can’t stop thinking about the families in Connecticut)

My husband and I have enjoyed more than 33 years together — but I think the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Greta Home and Academy in Haiti on Saturday may have been one of our best days!  Just think what fun it is to be part of a great project – a project to help 80 children!  You have no idea how bad it is in Haiti for so many kids and now my husband and I get to be part of helping so many.  It is an absolute thrill.  For months we had planned this ribbon cutting ceremony at the brand new Greta Home and Academy and I did not want to disappoint the children by not showing up.

I am grateful to Reverend Franklin Graham, Samaritan’s Purse, the many volunteers and donors to Samaritan’s Purse, the staff at the Greta Home and Academy …and, of course, the children….

And at the same time, our hearts bleed for the families in Connecticut.  I just don’t have the words to convey the great sadness that consumes all of us.

I bounce back and forth emotionally – from feeling great joy and happiness for the children in Haiti who live at Greta Home and Academy to my broken heart for the families in Connecticut.  I just can’t forget what those families are going through.
