I took so many pics from the Samaritan Purse and Reverend Franklin Graham grand opening of the Greta Home and Academy in Haiti on Saturday. The joy these children – most who were simply abandoned – showed when they saw their new home for the first time was contagious. Their smiles were electrifying. I will post many pics over the next few days.
I must confess that I am not certain how many pics to post or even when to post since we are also mourning what has happened in Connecticut. I was in Connecticut Friday night and it is hard to shake the pain of what happened there. I also followed the news all weekend long on my iphone from Haiti – I guess I could not shake it from my mind even when I was in Haiti.
I don’t know if overwhelming us with postings of the pics of the happiness of these Haitian (orphan) children is a good idea or bad idea…and maybe it is different for each one of us.
For some of you GretaWire bloggers it will make you feel better to be reminded of the goodness in the world….and to see some children who had no chance in life but now get a chance.
For others it may further depress you to see pics of children having so much fun when young lives in Connecticut have been ripped from us in such a violent way. The reminder can be painful.
I understand both views — and now I have to figure out how to balance the postings. I hope you will bear with me and I hope you know that I am trying to do this the best I can.
