Urgent: Rep. Hall becomes oldest living House member in history
Per Pergram-Capitol Hill
Rep. Ralph Hall (R-TX) has now become the longest-serving House member of all time. Has outlived the late-Rep. Charles Manly Stedman of North Carolina who died in 1930. Hall is now 89 years old, seven months and 25 days. Three years older than Rep. John Dingell (R-MI), the longest serving House member of all time. Hall is also older than the eldest senator, Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ).
Hall came to Congress in 1981 as a Democrat. Currently chairs the House Science Committee (although just for a few more days). He became a Republican in 2004.
