Police chief bans officers from eating at Denny’s after manager booted armed detectives from restaurant

No more pancakes for police! At least not in one Illinois town…the Belleville police chief is banning his officers from eating at all Denny’s restaurants. Why the boycott? The food feud started when several on-duty detectives went to eat at a local Denny’s. They had their badges and guns but no uniforms. That bothered another customer, who complained to the manager. The manager told the detectives to put their guns back in their cars or get out of the restaurant.

Police Chief William Clay wasn’t happy about that, saying it was an insult and a “slap in the face” to law enforcement. And that’s not all – the chief also said Denny’s policy stops police from eating in its restaurants, but allows sex offenders and felons to eat at Denny’s. The chief went on the ban all the town’s police officers from eating at Denny’s.

Denny’s has since apologized.

What do you think? Was Denny’s at fault or is the boycott too extreme? Post your thoughts!
