Urgent: US Capitol Police charge anti-abortion protester Rives Grogan for 2nd time in a week
Per Pergram-Capitol Hill
Rives Grogan was the anti-abortion demonstrator US Capitol Police arrested today after he scaled a tree near the West Front of the Capitol.
Grogan was arrested late last week after he began one of the more boisterous protests heard in recent years during a House session late last week.
Last fall, Grogan famously lost his shirt after USCP dragged him out of the Senate chamber during another rather loud protest.
Last fall, Cincinnati Police arrested Grogan after he ran onto the field at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati befor Game 3 of the National League Division Series between the Reds and San Francisco Giants. Grogan wielded an anti-abortion, pro-Mitt Romney protester during that incident.
Today, US Capitol Police charged Grogan with contempt of court, using Capitol grounds as “playgrounds..so far as may be necessary to protect the public property, turf and grass fromd destruction” and removal of forbidden property (hence the tree).
