One Ugly ‘Makeover’
House Republicans promised a makeover after Americans rejected their party in November – but who knew they were just going to get uglier?
An honored guest of House Republicans at tonight’s State of the Union address is Ted Nugent, who once threatened the President’s life, equated feminists to “a fat pig who doesn’t get it often enough” and called the President’s supporters “pimps and whores.”
“Republicans promised Americans that they were undergoing a serious makeover – but if anything, bringing Ted Nugent to the State of the Union shows just how ugly their party can really be,” said Emily Bittner of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “If John Boehner and Eric Cantor are really serious about changing their image, they should speak up now and condemn their Members for bringing the ugliest vein of intolerance into the United States Capitol tonight.”
To date, Speaker John Boehner and Republican Leader Cantor have been silent on Nugent’s attendance.
