Yahoo! clamps down on employees who work from home…did they go too far?


Show up at the office…or quit! That is the memo that Yahoo! just sent its employees. Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer clamping down on employees who work from home. She says interaction in the office is part of the job. Starting in June, Yahoo! employees who work from home must start working in the office…or quit. Employees received a memo stating: “Speed and quality are often sacrificed when we work from home. We need to be one Yahoo!, and that starts with physically being together.”

Several hundred Yahoo! employees work at home full time and many of them are now outraged. They say they took jobs with Yahoo! because of the flexibility, and some also say the move is an attack on working parents.
