Night after night on ON THE RECORD at 10pm, we report / talk about letter requests for information sent by Congress to the Obama Administration.
How often are there answers? not often…
And what is perplexing is that Congress does not use its subpoena power as part of its oversight responsibility to demand (and get) answers.
If there are legitimate questions….and if the Administration doesn’t answer, Congress should step up to the plate and use its subpoena power to get answers. I can’t figure out why Congress does not — either their questions are just political theatre or they are afraid to get the answers or they are not doing their jobs or something else?
And if the Obama Administration refuses to comply with a subpoena, then Congress should seek to enforce it.
It just is not that complicated to get answers.
