Minority Leader Steny Hoyer says Chairman Darell Issa should retract his accusations about WH Press Secretary Jay Carney

House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer

See below notes from FNC’s Chad Pergram:

Off-cam with House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) on Attorney General Eric Holder and whether he should stay in that position.

Hoyer says he has not heard directly from Holder…as the Attorney General is said to be reaching out to some allies on Capitol Hill.

Hoyer:

I have no concerns about Mr. Holder. He has handled himself in an exemplary fashion.

Hoyer:

I think he’s an outstanding Attorney General. I think the president has confidence in him and I think he should continue.

Hoyer:

I think the attacks on the Attorney General are indirect attacks on the administration and are unnecessary.

Hoyer on attacks on White House spokesman Jay Carney by House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA), calling him a “paid liar.”

Hoyer:

I think that was an outrageous statement and he ought to apologize and he out to retract that unless he has evidence to the contrary…which I don’t think he does.

Hoyer on Issa:

You can’t have confidence in someone who makes wild statements.
