I am re reading a book about the earthquake in Haiti that was written by the AP’s Jonathan M. Katz. The title is THE BIG TRUCK THAT WENT BY. Jonathan was in Haiti the day the earthquake struck. If you watch OTR at 10pm, you know that Jonathan was a guest to talk about his book right after the book was published.

I am re-reading his book simply because of my great interest in Haiti. Right after the earthquake in Haiti, I went there with then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and then made several subsequent trips there — including to the cholera hospitals set up by Reverend Franklin Graham and Samaritan’s Purse (Governor Sarah Palin went on that trip, too) and then of course the trips to Greta Home and Academy (an orphanage and school created by Samaritan’s Purse and Reverend Graham.)

In rereading the book it occurred to me how good it would be to read for young journalists just starting out in their careers.
