First, thank you to a GretaWire blogger EMOGP who tipped me off to this — I missed it yesterday (I was at the Navy Yard from 11am until midnight.) If President Bashir does come to the USA for the UN General Assembly, I hope he will agree to an interview with me. If he has nothing to hide — and he says he does not — this would be a big opportunity for him to talk to all of us. I would give him a fair interview. I have seen the children hiding, starving, running etc….plus the bomb craters next to schools and bombed out churches. You have seen the pictures. What does he have to say for himself? Stay tuned…
You know what also really breaks my heart? Some of these children were afraid of me. They should not be. President Bashir should be — because I am not giving up. I will use my megaphone here on GretaWire to remind everyone every chance I get!
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Sudan’s President Omar Hassan al-Bashir has applied for a U.S. visa to attend the opening of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the State Department said on Monday, adding that he should not make the trip because he is accused of war crimes.
State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said the United States had received Bashir’s application to attend the U.N. meeting, but “we would condemn any effort by him to do so.”
She declined to comment on whether the visa would be granted CLICK HERE
