President Johnson launched the WAR ON POVERTY in the mid 1960′s. If you don’t know we are losing it, you are delusional.
Whatever our strategy is to win the WAR ON POVERTY is a rotten strategy. You don’t lose this badly with a smart strategy.
So…will this President or the next President CHANGE THE WAR ON POVERTY STRATEGY so we can actually win it? How long do we want to be stupid? How long do we want more joining the poverty class? It has to stop.
Will this President or the next President do the nation a favor and step up to the plate and say, “why don’t we just win the WAR ON POVERTY?” (and actually do it!) I don’t want to hear all the arguments against winning it or why it is so hard – I want real success from our leaders. Lead us!
Winning the War on Poverty is seemingly as impossible as winning the Cold War in the 1980′s but if we could win the Cold War, we can win the War on Poverty. It needs real leadership, a national will to do it (that means all of us must be on board) and yes, a new strategy.
What do I say to our leaders – figure it out. You wanted the job and asked us for it.
