From FNC’s Chad Pergram:
Urgent: Senate clears procedural hurdle to move later this week to CR to avoid shutdown
Per Pergram-Capitol Hill
The Senate invoked cloture…to cut off all debate on motion to call up the CR passed by the House last week to fund the government and slash funding for health care law.
Needed 60 yeas.
The vote was 100-0.
The Senate now has up to 30 more hours before it can actually summon the CR to the floor, triggering a procedural vote that just needs 51 years Thursday evening.
It was thought that GOP senators who argued vehemently against funding Obamacare may vote no on this. However, the state of this bill right now is that it funds the government and defunds Obamacare. Hence the reason Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and others voted yes.
