From FNC Chad Pergram:
Urgent: Reid successfully speeds up process to finish CR. Final vote Friday/Saturday
Per Pergram-Capitol Hill
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has successfully stepped up the process to finish the CR to avert a government shutdown.
The earlier plan was for the Senate to finish the bill on Sunday. But now, the Senate may finish as early as Friday.
One thing is for sure…the biggest vote in this process…a cloture vote to cut off all debate on CR…will now come Friday.
So here’s what Reid did:
He got unanimous consent to get onto the CR. So the Senate is now on the CR itself.
He got an agreement to blow out the 30 hours of debate…just to get to the bill which wouldn’t have expired until tomorrow night.
He filed cloture…to end the debate…tonight…meaning that the final procedural vote (which needs 60 yeas) will come Friday.
It is possible if they can get 60 yeas on Friday…that the Senate COULD pass the entire CR…WITH Obamacare funding Friday…but maybe Saturday.
Regardless, this accelerates the process by one day if not two.
He also filed his amendment to restore the health care law funding…and made the CR run through November 15, not December 15 like in the House.
We have this all on tape. Fed back live to DC and NY on REM 260.
