Rough notes from US Senate / from FNC’s Nicholas Kalman:
BELOW Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
I said yesterday – don’t want to hear again today. We can finish this sometime Sat – we should get this back to the House as soon as possible. We have ability to wrap this up today – but it’s up to my Republican colleagues as to whether they will let that happen.
Tea party still insisting on a shut down. Hard to believe but it’s true
FBI is talking about furloughing employees. Not hyperbole – it’s the truth
10:06 look back at 1995 and Speaker Gingrich – they shut down gvt b/c President Clinton would meet every demand – caused tens of billions of dollars.
They should worry abt political consequences as well. Were all politicians.
A new poll cbs – says 80 per of Americans – you rarely get to agree on anything – agree that those that want the gvt to be held hostage to extract these concessions is someone they won’t vote for. 75 percent of republicans feel like that in this poill.
Just ask Charles Krauthammer. There is no more respected conservative columnist than Charles Krauthammer. Here’s what he wrote a week or two ago. Every fiscal showdown has ended bad for republicans.
I’ll give same advice Clinton gave in ’95; let government do its duty. They way out is as simple as it was in ’95.
1017 This is a bad time for America.
