Subject: Urgent: Senate not expected to consider essential pay bill/”supercommittee” plan adopted last night by the Hous
Fox has learned that Senate isn’t expected to take up either of the House approved measures last night…one to pay essential government workers on time during the government shutdown and to create a special bicameral committee to work on debt and spending issues.
“Didn’t we make it clear about these piecemeal bills?” asked a senior Senate Democratic source.
In addition, timing for the Senate to consider a House-approved measure to pay all federal workers retroactively after the shutdown is complete remains stalled for now due to some GOP objections. But Fox is told the Senate should pass that bill later this week.
