From FNC’s Chad Pergram:
Urgent: House GOPer at Cruz mtg says “no filibuster in sight” on tentative Senate deal
Per Pergram-Capitol Hill
From a House Republican member who was in attendance during the session at Tortilla Coast behind the Capitol with a group of House conservatives and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) about how they approach the tentative Senate deal on the debt limit and re-opening the government.
The member asked that they not be identified.
Notably, the lawmaker who asked not to be identifies said that from Cruz’s part it appears there’s “no filibuster in sight.”
Cruz has remained mum on his plans so far.
“Most want to continue fighting on ObamaCare and see the need to extend the debt ceiling to give room to fight on the CR. Most want to continue funding politically sensitive non-essential services in pieces.
Some think we will get jammed by the Senate and will get rolled. I think, if the Senate acts first, we could peel off a CR and maybe shorten the debt ceiling extension. But it’s unlikely we could stop the debt ceiling. Too many are afraid of negative market reaction. I’m not. I think the markets are smarter than that and if not, a few people will make a lot of money betting on the other side of the ledger.
No filibuster in sight.”
