Below is a note from FNC Chad Pergram: (and note, this pic is from a prior year)

Urgent: Capitol Christmas tree now lit

Per Pergram-Capitol Hill

Sits on the West Front of the Capitol, facing the National Mall.

The Capitol Christmas tree is a tradition dating back to 1964. It’s the tallest tree they’ve ever had according to Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA)…at 88 feet.

This is an Englemann Spruce from the Colville National Forest in Washington State.

As soon as House Speaker Boehner (R-OH) began speaking, several dozen immigration reform protesters began seranding Boehner…trying to disrupt the ceremony. They sang Christmas carols, sprinkled with pro-immigration reform lyrics and referencing Boehner…demanding a vote.

They wielded signs reading “immigration reform now” and “Keeping Families Together.”

They later chanted “immigration reform….now!”

Many of the demonstrators were children accompanied by adults.
