I thought it horrible that the IRS did not make any decision about many Tea Party group tax exemption requests. At least with a decision, a denial, the Tea Party group could appeal the decision to the next level up. If instead the IRS made no decision, and just kept sending questions to the Tea Party groups, they put the Tea Party groups in limbo, and in the worst position. The best is the granting of the exemption, the next best is a denial so they could appeal and the really lousy, the worst, was no decision.
No decision is what President Obama is doing with the Keystone pipeline project. He is deliberately not deciding so that he does not offend anyone (sort of like his votes in the Illinois Senate of merely present.) We hire Presidents to make decisions. Decisions are important. He needs to “fish or cut bait” so that others can then make decisions about what to do or not to do. He hurts everyone by his non decision. He puts people in limbo and that is a lousy place to be.
There is no appeal from President Obama’s decision but people can come up with other ideas, other solutions if he denies it. And if he grants it? Opponents to it can begin working on ideas to help make sure that it meets their concerns.
