Chairman Issa calls Lois Lerner’s conduct “contumacious” in scathing letter to Ranking Member Cummings

From FNC’s Chad Pergram:

Fox has obtained a somewhat personal, scathing letter from House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) to the top Democrat on the panel, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD). Issa challenges assertions by Cummings that the House cannot pursue contempt charges against Lois Lerner, the IRS employee at the center of the targeting scandal. Notably in the letter, Issa hints he’s not certain that his panel or the House will find Lerner in contempt of Congress.

In the letter, Issa crafts a case as to why he doesn’t think Lerner has the Fifth Amendment shield and why she may be subject to a contempt citation.

Issa repeatedly uses the phrase “you and your lawyers and consultants,” a phrase simply not heard often on Capitol Hill…especially in such high-level communiques between Members of Congress.
