Malaysia Airlines sends that horrible news via text message? text? Click and read what I think

At first I thought, wow, that is cold!  Sending that message, that the plane went down and no survivors via text message, is cold.

But….I thought more about it… and frankly, I would rather get that very painful message alone or when alone with my family and not in a big room with a bunch of strangers or even have some stranger airline employee come to my door, knock and probably say something awkward (“he didn’t suffer” or  something else awkward.)  What do you do to the stranger at the door?  Thank the person? invite him/ her in and then what, offer coffee?  All very awkward at a very painful time…

So….I have changed my original thought.  As bad as the news is that was conveyed via text, I can see how some (not all) would prefer it communicated that way.  Of course anyway is awful since the news is so sad…but ….I can see how some might prefer the text.

What do you think?
