On the GOP side…I am told LOTS of members have requested to be on the committee.
R’s hope to decide membership by the end of the week and vote on the resolution on Thursday.
It is still not clear how the D’s might play this. As for the potential ranking member…I would look at Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), an active defender of the administration on this topics…was a senior staffer for years on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and serves on both the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Oversight Committee…
Other possibilities could be Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA), the top Democrat on the Armed Services Committee.
Other potential members could be Reps. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Jim Langevin (D-RI), John Larson (D-CT) and Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX).
Keep in mind that that these members have to be well-dialed in on the subject…and have the have the appropriate security clearances.
