Pentagon Spokesman Col. Steve Warren told reporters Wednesday that a small team of U.S. military personnel will arrive in Abuja, Nigeria in the coming days. The roughly 10 uniformed military personnel from AFRICOM headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany are experts in logistics and communications and will be there to assess the situation and advise Nigerian officials, Warren said.

Warren said the U.S. military is NOT considering conducting an operation to rescue the girls.

The 10 man cell from AFRICOM is part of a larger coordination team from the U.S. government. Officials in the Pentagon believe the entire team, consisting of staff from Justice, FBI, State and DoD, will not amount to more than 20 people or so.
