U.S. flying armed drones over Baghdad, FNC’s Jennifer Griffin confirms

From FNC’s Jennifer Griffin:

According to a senior US defense official, the U.S. is now flying armed drones over Iraq.

HOWEVER, the drones are there for surveillance and no decision has been taken by the President to take “kinetic” actions. In other words, President Obama has not authorized combat operations in Iraq. The arming of the drones is defensive in nature. They can be used to protect US troops or the US Embassy. They are not being sent to engage ISIS fighters at this time.
