What has taken so long???!!!
Below is a note from FNC Chad Pergram. This nomination (read below) has been pending since May but Senator Reid not bother to schedule for a vote.
So…within 24 hours of the crash of flight 17, the Senate agrees to hold the confirmation vote on Monday. There is no reason that this could not have been weeks and weeks and weeks ago (the Senate does not work a full week in US Senate…and when it does, there is plenty of time to schedule a vote during the day.)
This is not a big point but does reflect how pitiful things are in DC. They (here the US Senate) can get it done if they want to. No one tied Senator Harry Reid up in the basement so that he could not schedule this vote weeks ago.
Urgent: Senate to hold confirmation vote Monday for US rep on int’l board which probes big international air crashes
Per Pergram-Capitol Hill
The Senate is scheduled to vote Monday evening to confirm Michael Lawson as the U.S. representatives to the UN’s International Civil Aviation Organization. This is the international organization which investigates major, international airline crashes, which could include Malaysia Airlines MH17. It investigated the 1983 Soviet shoot-down of a Korean Airlines flight which killed Rep. Larry McDonald (D-GA).
