News from the Pentagon — and fear about the Mosul Dam — Pentagon takes action

From FNC’s Jennifer Griffin:

According to a senior US defense official the airstrikes involving US F16 and F18 fighter jets – manned and unmanned planes began dropping bombs on ISIS targets around Mosul dam at about 22:00 pm Eastern last night. The operation is designed to protect Mosul dam, for fear that if ISIS fighters were to release water from the dam Mosul could be flooded with an estimated 20 m or 60 ft of water, creating a humanitarian disaster. US Army corps of engineers in 2007 said if Mosul dam broke even Baghdad could be threatened with flooding. The air campaign is designed to remove ISIS from the dam.
