Helicopter landed at Camp Pendleton at 11:47 a.m. local time after a

lengthy but pretty ride over mountains, water, buildings.


The site of POTUS’s remarks is nearby, walking distance. A neon red

sign on a building greeted him “Welcome President Barack Obama.”


POTUS to deliver remarks to military, primarily marines, in massive

hanger. Marines are wearing desert digital camouflage. There are some

civilians, mostly military families. Some are standing and others in

bleachers. A large American flag is behind the makeshift stage. One

side of the hanger is open to a view of mountains.
